Joe Borreson Awakened Souls, aka James and Cynthia, make deep and deftly evocative soundscapes that take you to the depths of time and space in dreamy washed out sunfilled attics where dreams swirl and transpire. Some of this like the best slo-mo shoegazer group you've yet to discover, and some has a Rafael Anton Irisarri/Benîot Piolard distorted warmth the is so hard to create well, but all of it is incredible. Favorite track: wistful ending.

The songs on ‘how we heal : addendum’ were written during the same sessions as ‘how we heal’ in the Spring of 2020 using guitars, bass, vocals and pedals. It has always been a nightly routine for us to write music, and during the spring lockdown it became our way of journaling—helping with the unknowns of each day and working through residual emotions.

The name of our project, ‘awakened souls’ came from our hope to be in touch with the most authentic parts of ourselves; and it has become more apparent this year than ever that creativity is a way for us to stay on this path of growth. We are grateful to Andrew (Stereoscenic) for releasing and mastering this collection of songs and for the support of this lovely ambient community.
