Favorite track: how we heal.

fran3000 The speed of the songs in How We Heal are reminiscent of birds, seemingly gliding from one wind current to another, and they follow a similar grace as well. Some tracks emanate slow evolving melodies while others emphasize soundscapes reminiscent of Tetsuo Innoue's work. Then, there is Paint The Sky, where Cynthia's voice takes center stage and the entire composition soars into an entirely different ethereal plane from the rest of the album. It is healing through aural mindfulness.
The Lifted Index

The Lifted Index ‘how we heal’ is full of staggering beauty from beginning to end. With just the right blend between voices and instruments, sometimes it’s hard to tell where one ends and the other begins. But the highlights of the album are when the vocals take center stage.

inquiri Every note on this masterpiece is felt deep within a different sector of the heart space, and with everything else Awakened Souls does, I find it difficult to choose a favorite. They are all my favorite, but knowing the special back story for Paint The Sky makes it extra special. It's all medicine, especially in these times. Cynthia and James and everything they create are a gift. Favorite track: paint the sky.

about

“We can let the circumstances of our lives harden us so that we become increasingly resentful and afraid, or we can let them soften us and make us kinder and more open to what scares us. We always have this choice.”
-Pema Chodron

All but one of these songs were composed and recorded in our bedroom studio during the early part of the Covid pandemic.*

Our intention is to help others find the sense of peace that making music brings to us.

— Cynthia & James

* James was sending me all these amazing tracks the two of them were making during the lockdown. As I was trying to make selections and track orders, I asked if they had any vocal-centric songs. He dug up an older track—Paint the Sky—finalized the mix, and it’s really become the highlight of the album for me... with a powerful segue into the title track. This is definitely an album to be experienced from start to finish. — Andrew J Klimek

Drifting, Almost Falling review excerpt:

“The most identifiable quality or characteristic is the sheer lushness of the pieces. Apparently recorded in their bedroom/studio you would be hard pressed to find something more devastatingly beautiful as this six track collection. The music is the sort to delve deeply into and explore. Dynamic in it’s use of tones and contrasting sounds, this is not a one dimensional release.”
